NJ Trade Groups Challenges General Contractors Licensing Bill

By Bill Wichert (February 3, 2022, 9:17 PM EST) — New Jersey business and construction trades groups raised concerns Thursday before a state Assembly committee about how Proposed legislation to require licenses for general contractors on public projects would add to the existing regulations they face and limit licenses to professionals with certain training.

Representatives of the organizations made the points during a Zoom hearing of the Assembly’s Regulated Professions Committee on the General Contractors Licensing Act, a measure to establish licensing requirements that would protect ultimately the taxpayers who foot the bill for the construction work.
